Maintenance Key Points for Cylindrical Roller Bearings: Careful Maintenance to Extend Service Life
(1) Lubrication Management
Lubrication is crucial for the normal operation of cylindrical roller bearings. Appropriate lubricants can effectively reduce friction and wear inside the bearings, reduce heat generation, and increase the service life of the bearings. When choosing lubricants, comprehensive consideration should be given to the working conditions of the bearings (such as load, speed, temperature, etc.) and environmental factors (such as humidity, dust, etc.). Generally, for high-speed and light-load conditions, a lubricating oil with lower viscosity can be selected; for heavy-load and low-speed conditions, a lubricating oil or grease with higher viscosity or grease should be used. At the same time, it is necessary to regularly check the quality and quantity of the lubricants and replenish or replace the deteriorated lubricants in time. When adding lubricants, ensure the addition amount is appropriate, as too much or too little lubricants may affect the performance of the bearings. In addition, attention should be paid to the cleanliness of the lubrication system to prevent impurities from entering the bearings and disrupting the lubrication effect.
(2) Installation and Disassembly
Correct installation and disassembly are the key links to ensure the service life of cylindrical roller bearings. When installing the bearings, strictly follow the operating procedures and ensure a clean installation environment to avoid impurities entering the bearings. Use dedicated installation tools and avoid directly striking the bearings to prevent damage to the bearing components. For cylindrical inner holes, the bearings can be installed using the hot mounting method or press-in method; for conical inner holes, the bearings can be installed using locking sleeves or release sleeves. During the installation process, pay attention to controlling the installation accuracy to ensure that the clearance between the bearing and the shaft and the bearing seat meets the requirements. When disassembling the bearings, also use dedicated tools to avoid forced disassembly, as this may damage the bearings and the shaft. Before disassembling, clean the lubricants in the bearings to facilitate the disassembly operation.
(3) Daily Monitoring
Establishing a complete daily monitoring mechanism can promptly detect potential problems with cylindrical roller bearings, take measures in advance for handling, and prevent equipment failures. Daily monitoring mainly includes monitoring parameters such as the temperature, vibration, and noise of the bearings. By installing temperature sensors, real-time monitoring of the operating temperature of the bearings can be carried out. Generally, the normal operating temperature of the bearings should not exceed 80℃. If the temperature is too high, it may indicate problems such as poor lubrication, overload, or improper installation, and the equipment should be stopped for inspection in time. Use a vibration analyzer to monitor the vibration of the bearings. The vibration amplitude of a normally operating bearing should be within the specified range. If the vibration amplitude suddenly increases, it may indicate faults such as wear, fatigue spalling, or roller breakage inside the bearing. In addition, listening to the sound can also help preliminarily determine the operating status of the bearings. A normal bearing operates with a smooth and uniform sound. If abnormal noises such as sharp whistling sounds or periodic impacts occur, it should be immediately inspected and repaired.
