Common Faults and Solutions of Deep Groove Ball Bearings2
IV. Leakage (Lubricating Oil Seepage)
Fault Manifestation: Obvious seepage of lubricating oil at the bearing seal, leading to insufficient lubrication.
Common Causes:
Damaged Seals: Aging, cracking or scratching of the sealing ring during installation, resulting in loss of sealing effect.
Misalignment: Excessive clearance between the seal and the shaft or housing, or failure to press the seal firmly during installation.
Excessive Pressure: Overfilling of grease inside the bearing, causing internal pressure to rise and push out the grease during operation.
Solutions:
Replace the seal with the same model, avoid scratching during installation, and ensure that the sealing lip is tightly in contact with the shaft surface.
Adjust the installation position of the seal, check the fit dimensions, and add a sealing gasket if necessary.
Control the amount of grease filling (usually 1/3 to 1/2 of the internal space of the bearing) to avoid overfilling.
V. Early Fatigue Spalling (Surface Metal Flaking)
Fault Manifestation: Flaking of metal in sheet-like patterns on the raceway or rolling elements, accompanied by a sharp decline in performance.
Common Causes:
Alternating Load Fatigue: Long-term exposure to repeated impacts or vibrations, causing fatigue damage to the metal surface.
Material Defects: Improper heat treatment of the bearing material (such as insufficient hardness) or presence of inclusions.
Corrosion Damage: Contact with moisture, corrosive media, or deterioration of the lubricating grease, leading to rust and subsequent fatigue spalling.
Solutions:
Optimize the load distribution, reduce shock and vibration (such as using shock-absorbing bases), and avoid overloading fatigue of the bearing.
Select high-quality bearings (such as those certified by ISO), ensuring that the material and heat treatment processes meet standards.
Strengthen protective measures, use corrosion-resistant bearings (such as stainless steel) or waterproof sealed lubricating grease.
