What are the precautions for the maintenance and care of self-aligning roller bearings? (2

Ii. Precautions for Lubrication Management
1. Grease selection
Select the appropriate grease based on the working conditions (load, rotational speed, temperature, environment) :
Heavy load/impact load: Select high-viscosity, extreme pressure type grease (such as lithium-based grease + molybdenum disulfide);
High-speed working conditions: Select lubricating greases with low consistency and low friction coefficient (such as synthetic oil-based greases);
High-temperature environment: Select high-temperature resistant grease (such as composite aluminum-based grease, with a temperature resistance of ≤150℃) or silicon-based grease (with a temperature resistance of ≤200℃).
In damp/dusty environments: Select waterproof and anti-pollution grease (such as polyurea grease).
2. Lubrication amount and filling cycle
The amount of grease added is generally 1/3 to 1/2 of the internal space of the bearing. Excessive addition will lead to excessively high temperature rise and deterioration of the grease. Insufficiency will lead to dry friction.
The refueling cycle is determined according to the operating conditions:
Under normal operating conditions (speed ≤1000rpm, temperature ≤70℃) : Add fuel once every 1000 to 2000 hours of operation.
Harsh working conditions (high speed, high temperature, heavy load) : Refuel once every 500 to 1,000 hours, or monitor in real time through the oil level observation window.
3. Lubrication system maintenance
When oil lubrication is used, the oil level and quality (such as viscosity and acid value) should be checked regularly. If emulsification, discoloration or impurities are found, the lubricating oil should be replaced in time. The filtration accuracy should not be less than 25μm.
When lubricating with grease, avoid mixing different types of grease. When replacing, thoroughly remove the old grease to prevent lubrication failure caused by the conflict of additives.
Iii. Operation Monitoring and Fault Early Warning
1. Temperature monitoring
During normal operation, the bearing temperature should not exceed the ambient temperature by 40℃, and the maximum temperature should be ≤80℃ (except for special high-temperature working conditions).
Regularly monitor the temperature of the bearing housing with an infrared thermometer or temperature sensor. If any abnormal temperature rise is detected (such as a sudden increase of more than 10℃), immediately stop the machine to check the lubrication, load or installation status.
2. Vibration and noise detection
Use a vibration detector to measure the vibration velocity of the bearing (normal value ≤4.5mm/s). Abnormal vibration (such as high-frequency components in the spectrum) may indicate roller wear, raceway spalling or installation eccentricity.
If sharp abnormal noises or periodic impact sounds occur during operation, it may be due to broken rollers or damaged cages. The machine should be stopped immediately for inspection and repair.
3. Load and working condition monitoring
Avoid long-term overload operation of the bearing (the actual load should be ≤ 0.8 times the rated dynamic load), and the impact load should be controlled within the rated static load range.
Monitor the operating parameters of the equipment (such as rotational speed and torque) to prevent frequent starts and stops or sharp fluctuations in rotational speed from causing bearing fatigue.
